Department of Russian and East European Studies - People

The Department of Russian and East European Studies (KRVS) was established in 1994 as part of the Institute of International Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. In its early years, it was intended primarily to fill a gap in academic research and education that arose from the abolition of the former Institute of History of Central and Eastern Europe at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Former members of this institution formed the foundation of a new department aimed at developing a new approach to research on the former Eastern Bloc.
